| Driving Love
Oct 22, 2005 Copyright (c) 2005 Kevin Gourley. All rights reserved. It was a rough night for Mom. Right now my wife and younger daughter are on a three hour drive to come up to see Mom. And on a separate road, my older daughter and her fiancé are also driving up here from college. This will likely be their final visit. Love is driving their cars. I reflect back on the past couple of years, the number of times I have driven up here to see and help Mom, over 10,000 miles of driving. It didn’t seem like that much. I realize love was driving then also. All of the rest of our family has been driving over here regularly to visit Mom. They brought a loving smile and an encouraging spirit. Love was driving them on each visit. And last year, I gave Mom a special present, a one-week mother/son vacation through Missouri to see where she lived as a child, visit relatives and her dear friend from years past, and this gave her a chance to tell me the stories of her life’s earlier times. Again, love was truly driving us. I believe the Hospice workers and volunteers who have been coming by to check on Mom are all driven with this same “driving love.” Sometime soon, my mission here will be over, and I will be
driving home.
