Mom's health is already starting to take more of a downturn.
Fortunately she felt good enough to go on a special "day trip" I had arranged today.

I took her to a town about an hour away, where she and my dad had owned a lake house.   It's in a special gated community, so I had to make arrangements ahead of time, to gain access, for this trip to be possible.  Though she was initially hesitant, I was so happy when she said she'd go.

The entire drive was a trip into our past, with special memories of family weekends at the lake.   I took her to lunch in the little historic town square.   Then we went out to the lake, and drove to the lake house.   We parked by the lake and reminisced.  

Our day was preoccupied with sightseeing and remembering special times with fondness.

As we were driving back home, Mom thanked me.   She said she was grateful for a day where, for a while, she actually forgot she had cancer.

With a lump in my throat, and a tear in my eye, I wished I could make every day a day where she did not have to think about her cancer. 

I am glad I gave her this one.
